Calligraphy Participatory Workstation

A pair of interactive workstations for learning and playing with calligraphy.  Both are light-table variations.  One involves writing in black sumi ink on Chinese calligraphy paper and the second uses black sand on top of white light that allows the user to move sand to write.  The black sand table is built into a classic steamer trunk, referencing the trunk as a symbol of transculturation and immigration.  These pieces were direct collaborations with Chris Treggiari.
